These terms govern your use of the Karmic Parents platform and services. Please read them carefully. By creating an account or making a payment, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
Karmic Ventures LLC is a for-profit company registered in Wyoming, United States. We operate a membership platform that connects adult companions in developed countries with families raising children in partner communities in developing countries.
Karmic Parents is not a charity, non-profit organisation, adoption agency, fostering service, or sponsorship programme. We are a for-profit membership platform providing facilitated personal development and cross-cultural connection services.
Our platform enables companions to build genuine, structured, protected relationships with partner families over a minimum period of five years. The nature, depth, and specific activities of each relationship are determined by the membership tier chosen and the mutual agreement of the companion and family.
By using our website, submitting a letter application, creating an account, or making any payment to Karmic Parents, you confirm that:
These terms form a legally binding contract between you and Karmic Ventures LLC.
To apply to become a companion on the Karmic Parents platform you must:
Karmic Parents reserves the right to reject any application at our sole discretion, including without limitation applications from individuals whose background check results, interview responses, or letter content give us reasonable grounds for concern.
Eligibility to apply does not guarantee acceptance to the platform or successful matching with a family.
Subject to these terms and your payment of the applicable subscription fee, Karmic Parents provides:
We do not guarantee that a match will be found within any specific timeframe. We do not guarantee that a particular family will accept a companion's letter. We do not guarantee the outcome or quality of any specific relationship. We do not guarantee that the platform will be available without interruption.
The value of the Karmic Parents experience depends substantially on the honest engagement of both companions and families. We facilitate and structure that engagement but cannot compel either party to participate with any particular degree of depth or frequency beyond the minimum commitments set out in these terms.
As a companion on the Karmic Parents platform you agree to:
Maintain your subscription and active participation for a minimum period of five years from the date of your first match with a family. Early termination is subject to the notice period set out in our Cancellation Policy.
Engage with the platform, the journey framework, and your matched family honestly and in good faith. Complete the monthly Reflect checklist truthfully. Engage with the journal and communications tools with genuine attention.
Pay your subscription fee on time each month or year as applicable. Maintain any additional financial commitments made to your matched family through the platform including birthday funding and specific item purchases.
Communicate with partner families through the platform only and never through direct personal channels. Maintain appropriate boundaries in all communications. Never attempt to identify, locate, or contact a child or family member directly outside the platform.
Treat all information about your matched family and child as confidential. Do not share identifying information about families or children with any third party. You may share your own experience of the journey publicly but must not identify any family or child by name, location, or any other identifying detail without the explicit written consent of the family.
Ensure that all information you provide to Karmic Parents — including your letter, your identity documentation, and your background check disclosures — is accurate and complete. Providing false or misleading information is grounds for immediate termination.
These rules are absolute. There are no exceptions. Breach of any of these rules results in immediate account termination, reporting to relevant child protection authorities, and may result in legal action.
The following are strictly prohibited for all companions at all times:
If a companion has maintained their commitment for the required duration and the young adult has reached 18 years of age, a direct meeting or video call may take place only when all of the following conditions are met:
Companion memberships are billed monthly or annually in US dollars at the rates published on our pricing page at the time of subscription. Current founding member rates are:
Founding members who join during our initial launch period are guaranteed that their subscription rate will not increase as long as their membership remains active and in good standing.
All subscription fees are non-refundable. This applies to monthly and annual subscriptions without exception. By subscribing you acknowledge that you are paying for access to a facilitated relationship and digital platform services, and that the value of those services does not diminish by reason of your choice not to use them.
If you cancel your membership, you retain access to the platform until the end of your current billing period. No partial refund is issued for unused days or months.
The only exception to this policy is cancellation within 14 days of an annual subscription renewal where no match has yet been made, in which case a pro-rata refund of unused months may be considered at Karmic Parents' discretion.
All subscription payments are processed by Paddle.com. One-time payments are processed by Stripe Inc. Karmic Parents does not store your payment card details. Payment processing is subject to the terms and privacy policies of the respective payment processors.
If a subscription payment fails, we will attempt to process it again within seven days. If payment continues to fail, your account will be suspended after 14 days and terminated after 30 days of non-payment. During suspension, your data and content are retained but your access to platform features is restricted.
Contributions made to partner families for specific purposes — including birthday funding, educational expenses, and welfare support — are transferred to families through our secure transfer partners. These contributions are separate from your subscription fee. They are not refundable once transferred to a family.
Karmic Parents retains a platform facilitation fee on family support contributions. The applicable fee is disclosed at the point of each contribution. This fee covers the cost of verifying, processing, and documenting the transfer.
The Nurture Pack is a standalone product available to anyone regardless of companion membership status. By purchasing a Nurture Pack you agree to the following:

Companions may make annual contributions to a Future Fund designated for their matched child. The Future Fund operates as follows:
Important: The Future Fund is an administrative arrangement. It does not constitute a trust, investment vehicle, or financial product regulated under the securities laws of any jurisdiction. Karmic Parents does not provide financial advice. The Future Fund carries no interest and is held in a standard bank account.
Content you create on the platform — including Pages journal entries, Plan submissions, and letters — remains your property. By creating this content on the platform you grant Karmic Parents a limited licence to store, process, and display it to you and your matched family as part of the service.
You retain the right to export your content at any time through the platform export function. On cancellation of your membership you have 90 days to export your content before it is deleted from our systems.
You grant Karmic Parents the right to use anonymised and aggregated insights derived from platform usage for the purpose of service improvement. We will never identify you personally in any published material without your explicit written consent.
If you choose to share your experience publicly — including in testimonials, social media posts, or media interviews — you retain full control over what you share. We ask only that you do not identify any family or child by name or in a way that makes them identifiable.
You may cancel your membership at any time subject to the notice period set out in our Cancellation Policy. The minimum commitment is five years from the date of first match. Early termination within the minimum commitment period is subject to the terms set out in our Cancellation Policy.
After the five-year minimum commitment is completed, membership continues on a rolling month-to-month basis. No further minimum commitment applies. The companion may cancel at any time with 30 days written notice. No early exit fee applies after the minimum commitment period is completed.
Companions are encouraged to continue the relationship for as long as it remains meaningful to both parties. There is no upper limit on the duration of a companion relationship.
When a child in the programme reaches the age of 18, the following process applies:
The Future Fund is transferred to the young adult at age 18 regardless of whether consent to direct contact is given.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your membership immediately and without notice if:
In the event of termination for cause, no refund of subscription fees will be made. Any Future Fund contributions are handled in accordance with Section 09.
On termination, your access to the platform is removed. Your matched family is notified that the relationship has ended. Any communications or content within the platform that involves the child remains protected and is not shared with the child unless the child later reaches 18 and consents to access. Your data is retained in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Karmic Parents' total liability to you for any claims arising from these terms or your use of our service is limited to the total amount you have paid to us in the three months preceding the claim.
Karmic Parents is not liable for:
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
If you have a complaint or dispute with Karmic Parents, please contact us first at hello@karmicparents.com. We will attempt to resolve disputes informally within 30 days of receiving your complaint.
If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and Karmic Parents agree to submit to binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will take place in Wyoming. The arbitrator's decision will be final and binding.
Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek emergency injunctive relief from any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent irreparable harm, particularly in cases involving child safety.
If you are an EU consumer, you also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify active companions by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
If you do not agree to the updated terms, you may cancel your membership in accordance with our Cancellation Policy before the effective date. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
